About Us

Our Mission

The Verle Huffman post was opened by charter on December 2, 1947 with the non-profit opening in 2023.  Our mission is to honor and support our nation's veterans and their families by providing critical resources, services, and programs that promote their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. We are dedicated to creating a welcoming and inclusive community where veterans can connect, engage, and thrive, regardless of their background, age, or service history.

Through our partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and government agencies, we aim to address the complex challenges facing veterans and their families, including homelessness, unemployment, and mental health issues. We are committed to empowering veterans with the tools and resources they need to successfully reintegrate into civilian life and achieve their personal and professional goals.

At the heart of our mission is a deep respect for the sacrifices made by our service members, and a steadfast commitment to serving those who have served us.

About our foundation
The VFW Post 9644 Foundation was established to spearhead the fundraising campaign for the renovation of our post's community center, as well as to promote veterans health and wellness initiatives, and other related programs. While the Foundation remains committed to its partnership with VFW Post 9644, it has also broadened its scope to encompass the development, enhancement, and preservation of Veterans service programs throughout the Colorado Front Range community.

We are deeply grateful for the unwavering support of Veterans, advisors, business leaders, corporate and foundation partners, and the wider community. It is only through their generous contributions and cooperation that we are able to realize our mission and serve those who have served us so selflessly.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) statement:

At VFW Post 9644 Foundation, we believe that diversity, equity, and inclusion are essential values that drive innovation, growth, and success. We strive to create an inclusive workplace where all employees feel valued, respected, and supported, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, or ability.

We recognize that diversity is not just about representation, but also about creating a culture that actively embraces and celebrates differences. We are committed to fostering an environment where all veterans can bring their whole selves and contribute their unique perspectives and experiences.

We also acknowledge that systemic inequalities and biases exist within society and workplaces, and we are dedicated to challenging and dismantling those barriers. We are actively working to identify and address any inequities within our own organization and in our interactions with clients and partners.

Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is not just a statement, but a continuous journey towards creating a more just and equitable world. We welcome feedback and accountability as we strive to create a workplace and community that is inclusive and equitable for all.
